The Los Angeles Lakers released their injury report for Monday night’s game against the Miami Heat, which is the second night of a back-to-back, and Ziaire Williams (left foot injury management) is expected to return to action while Adou Thiero (left knee injury management) remains out.

Despite it being a back-to-back, everyone else on the Lakers is healthy and available to play as the team goes for its second straight win in 24 hours.

Williams got off to a strong start to the season for the Lakers, earning a starting job in training camp and then averaging 11.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 57.1% from the field and 46.7% from 3-point range in the first four games.

He has been dealing with this lingering foot issue since the preseason though, and it forced him to sit out the Lakers’ last three games before returning against Miami.

The Heat have one of the biggest and more physical frontcourts in the league, so getting Williams back should be a huge boost for L.A. After missing some time though, it is possible that he is on a bit of a minutes restriction, so other forwards like Sandro Mamukelashvili, Jake LaRavia and Jarred Vanderbilt will factor heavily into the game plan as well for the Lakers.

Ziaire Williams enjoying role with Lakers

Williams recently expressed how much he is enjoying his role as the primary point-of-attack defender for the Lakers, willing to do whatever is needed to help his team.

“Yes sir, that’s my job and I take it with pride,” Williams told ESPN Los Angeles after last week’s win over the L.A. Clippers. “I take my matchup serious, my scouting serious and just willing to do whatever it takes to win. So I’m just glad we got the dub.”

Taking on this type of role isn’t common for former lottery picks, and Williams deserves credit for how he has embraced it.
