The Los Angeles Lakers are building around superstar Luka Doncic and face a post-LeBron James future sooner rather than later.

James' impending exit in the next couple of years will leave cap space open for the organization and a missing running mate alongside Luka Doncic.

In the coming seasons, the Lakers will be searching for another superstar to add, though it is becoming more difficult to acquire such coveted players.

There are still some potential targets for Los Angeles: Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic. Either could play out their contract and become free agents or request a move away from their long-time teams.

According to Lakers insider Jovan Buha, Antetokounmpo is the likelier option for Los Angeles.

"Between Giannis and Jokic, I think Giannis is more likely to be a Laker if only because I think he's more likely to leave his current situation than Jokic is," Buha said in his latest video.

"Milwaukee did some desperate things this summer. They might be able to keep Giannis happy through the trade deadline or through the rest of next season, but I think come next summer when they likely lose in the first round, Giannis will have to have a difficult conversation with himself about his basketball future.

"Whereas Denver, I think Denver right now is the second best team in the West. I think they've had an awesome offseason."

"I think Denver is going to at least make the second round if not conference finals or finals," Buha continued. "Just by virtue of that, I would say Giannis, the Lakers will gladly take two of the top four players in the league on their roster.

"That is like Kobe-Shaq, LeBron-Wade, Steph-KD. You rarely get two players of that caliber at the same time, and if LA is able to land Jokic or Giannis with Luka, they can claim that."

The Lakers are known for targeting star players throughout the franchise's history, and they would likely jump at the chance to get one of Antetokounmpo or Jokic.

Both are international talents whose global impact is only rivaled by Doncic. These three are friends off the court as well which could play a role in them joining the Lakers and creating a special NBA duo.

While it is unlikely either player comes to the Lakers, many didn't believe Doncic would get traded, but somehow, Los Angeles managed to pull off the shock move.

Perhaps president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka can pull a rabbit out of his hat.
