Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic grabbed his groin during Tuesday night's season opener, causing some concern among fans, but he offered an optimistic update on the injury.

Doncic is no stranger to getting hurt throughout his career, suffering from different ailments ranging from minor injuries to missing multiple weeks.

His record makes it all the more concerning that Doncic spent time in the training room receiving treatment on his right leg.

During the post-game press conference, Doncic revealed that it is not an injury he's worried about in the long term.

"It's probably nothing," Doncic said, per ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "Just felt it a little bit because my hip went [the opposite] way. Felt it a little bit, but it's probably nothing."

Doncic played a total of 41 minutes during the first game, scoring 43 points, nine assists, and 12 rebounds in his first season opener as a Lakers player.

In the end, it wasn't enough as the Lakers lost 119-109 to the Golden State Warriors, who were fully healthy and seemed to build on their chemistry from last season.

Jimmy Butler's first game starting the season as a Warrior, and he looked more in sync with the team. Stephen Curry did not play great, but forward Jonathan Kuminga played a crucial role.

Ultimately, the game was lost for the Lakers in the third quarter after losing 35-25 to the Warriors, a margin that built a lead the Lakers could not take back.

"The trend I see is that we continue to be a terrible third-quarter team," Lakers coach JJ Redick said.

"That was last year. That was the preseason. Gotta rethink some things and it's, you know, a two-way thing with the guys. What do they need at halftime to make sure they're ready to play? They're not ready to play to start the third quarter."

The Lakers get some extra time to recover and iron out some things for Friday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, hoping to get some revenge from the 2024 playoffs.

The Wolves beat the Lakers in five games during the first round of the playoffs, and on Friday, they can demonstrate their growth since then.
