The Lakers have added two players as they work through the final days of preseason, bringing in guard Jahmir Young and forward Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones on Exhibit 10 contracts.
Dan Woike of The Athletic reported Young’s signing following the release of Cole Swider. ESPN’s Olgun Uluc reported the addition of Tait-Jones.
Young, 26, gives Los Angeles another ball-handler while its backcourt deals with injuries. The 6-foot point guard appeared in 14 games for Miami last season, totaling just 58 minutes, after spending his rookie year with Chicago.
His larger opportunity came in the G League, where he averaged 25.9 points, 8.5 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 31 games for the Sioux Falls Skyforce. He shot 46.1 percent from the field and 36 percent on 3-pointers.
Those numbers warrant a look, even if his immediate job is helping the Lakers get through preseason.
Tait-Jones, 25, is a 6-foot-6 forward from New Zealand who finished his college career at UC San Diego. He went undrafted in 2025 before playing for Valmiera Glass VIA last season, averaging 15.9 points and 6.9 rebounds in 30 games.
Both contracts provide a potential path to the Coachella Valley Lakers. If waived before the regular season, Young and Tait-Jones can each earn a bonus of up to $91,000 by spending at least 60 days with the G League affiliate.
