The Los Angeles Lakers celebrated Walker Kessler’s debut after their 127-105 victory over the Golden State Warriors, highlighting a performance that put the new center in franchise history.
Kessler scored 26 points without missing a field-goal attempt, going 12-for-12 from the floor. He added nine rebounds and two blocks, giving Los Angeles a presence in its season opener.
The Lakers’ official account spotlighted another milestone: Kessler recorded 10 dunks, the most by a Laker in a game since Shaquille O’Neal did it in 2003. The achievement offered a first glimpse of what the team hopes its new frontcourt anchor can provide.
In good company.

Kessler made his impact immediately, finishing an alley-oop from Luka Dončić on Los Angeles’ opening possession. Dončić found him near the rim, helping the Lakers turn their size advantage into easy points and build separation after halftime.
Dončić finished with 28 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while Austin Reaves added 23 points. Los Angeles outscored Golden State 36-16 in the third quarter, turning a first half into a win.
Kessler’s perfect shooting also placed him among the most efficient performances in franchise history. His 12 made field goals without a miss fell short of Wilt Chamberlain’s Lakers record of 14, set in 1969, but still made for an extraordinary debut.
The center’s arrival matters as Los Angeles looks to establish an interior presence around Dončić. Kessler’s finishing, rebounding and rim protection could help shape the team’s identity from the start.
The Lakers next face the Phoenix Suns on Saturday. One game cannot establish how the season will unfold, but Kessler has already delivered a statement performance and given fans a reason to be excited about his fit in Los Angeles.
