Lakers officially sign Drew Timme, waive Christian Koloko

The Lakers made it official on Tuesday, announcing they’ve signed Drew Timme to a two-way contract and waived Christian Koloko to create the roster spot.

Timme, the Gonzaga legend who has been hunting for NBA footing the past two seasons, now becomes eligible to appear in up to 40 regular-season games for Los Angeles.

Timme’s road here has been winding. He went undrafted in 2023, carved out a strong G League run, landed a two-year deal with Brooklyn late last season, then saw the Nets pick up his option and waive him anyway during preseason.

He played well for Long Island down the stretch (12.1 points, 7.2 boards, 2.2 assists) and lit up Summer League with 25 points a night.

He’s been even better with South Bay to start this season. In four Tip-Off Tournament games, Timme has averaged 28.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists while carrying a heavy workload.

Koloko had also been in a depth role. The third-year center appeared in 37 games last season but saw only spot time this fall before the Lakers chose to move on.
