The Los Angeles Lakers took down the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday, thanks to the strong play from LeBron James. The four-time NBA champion had 31 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists on 60.0% shooting. He led the Lakers in scoring on their way to a 141-116 win.
It was an outstanding collective effort by the team's starting lineup. Luka Doncic had 27 points, five rebounds and 12 assists on 55.6% shooting from deep. Deandre Ayton also stepped up big time to snap the Lakers' three-game losing streak. Ayton had 17 points and 18 rebounds on 77.8% shooting.
Following the win, coach JJ Redick commended James for his strong play and playing his first back-to-back of the 2025-26 season.
“His competitive stamina is off the charts… It's actually unfortunate how much this guy puts into it and how much he cares and the way certain people talk about him. It's crazy. Come be around him every day and see how much this guy cares. It's off the charts," Redick said.
The head coach also revealed that James was hit in his quad during the fourth quarter. However, he told reporters that the Lakers star is already receiving treatment to prepare for their next contest.
“He got hit in the quad in the fourth quarter, he’s already in the ice bath,” Redick said. “He’s gonna do everything he possibly can to play.”
