The Cavaliers could have competition if they hope to retain veteran forward Dean Wade.
According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, Wade is generating significant interest around the league and could command as much as the full non-taxpayer mid-level exception in free agency. That projection would make a new deal worth approximately $64.7 million over four years.
Siegel reported the Pistons, Spurs, Lakers, Nets and Sixers are among the teams monitoring Wade, with Philadelphia viewed as one of the more serious potential suitors.
Meanwhile, league sources told HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto that the Cavaliers, Sixers, Lakers, Spurs, Suns, Pistons and Trail Blazers have all expressed interest in the 28-year-old.
Philadelphia presents an especially interesting possibility. New Sixers president Mike Gansey previously served as the Cavs’ general manager and helped bring Wade to Cleveland as an undrafted free agent in 2019.
Wade has spent all seven of his NBA seasons with the Cavs, earning a reputation as a dependable, versatile defender capable of guarding multiple positions while shooting 36.7 percent from three-point range for his career.
