The Philadelphia 76ers overcame a second half collapse to defeat the Indiana Pacers 114-109 on Wednesday night, improving their record to 4-1 to begin the 2026-27 NBA season. Tyrese Maxey led the way with 27 points, while LeBron James delivered an all around performance to help Philadelphia secure an important road victory.

Maxey was outstanding throughout the contest, scoring efficiently and taking control when the game was on the line. Joel Embiid contributed 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Jaylen Brown added 20 points and 10 rebounds. Anfernee Simons provided another scoring boost off the bench, finishing with 20 points.

James finished with 13 points, five rebounds and 10 assists, showcasing his playmaking ability and helping Philadelphia maintain its offensive rhythm. His passing and experience proved valuable as the 76ers attempted to recover from a disastrous third quarter.

Philadelphia entered halftime with a 62-52 advantage after building a double-digit lead during the second quarter. VJ Edgecombe provided one of the night’s biggest highlights, connecting on a half-court shot at the buzzer to give the 76ers additional momentum heading into the break.

However, Indiana completely changed the game’s direction in the third quarter. The Pacers opened the second half with a 17-0 run, taking control while Philadelphia struggled to find its shooting rhythm. Indiana outscored the 76ers 36-13 in the period, entering the fourth quarter with an 88-75 lead.

Philadelphia responded with a determined fourth-quarter performance. Maxey led the comeback, attacking the basket and knocking down important shots as the 76ers gradually erased the deficit. The team eventually reclaimed the lead and refused to let Indiana regain control.

Maxey delivered the decisive blows late in the game, knocking down two three-pointers in the final 90 seconds. His second triple gave Philadelphia a 112-106 advantage with 46 seconds remaining, putting the 76ers in position to close out the victory.

Pascal Siakam led Indiana with 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Andrew Nembhard recorded 18 points and 14 assists.

The victory demonstrated Philadelphia’s offensive firepower and resilience, although the third-quarter collapse remains an area for improvement. The 76ers will look to carry their momentum into Friday’s matchup against the New York Knicks.
