LeBron James, Luka Doncic and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers came up short on Tuesday night against the Orlando Magic. The Lakers pushed their opponents to the end, but they just didn’t execute on the final play. This resulted in L.A. suffering a 110-109 home loss at Crypto.com Arena.

Doncic had the ball in the last possession with just seconds remaining and Orlando up by one point. He passed the ball to James with time running out. The NBA’s all-time leading scorer took a contested turnaround fadeaway shot from three-point territory. James missed and it was game over for the Lakers.

James, who finished with 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two triples in the game, was asked about the final play during his post-game interview. The 41-year-old got brutally honest as he addressed Doncic’s decision in the dying seconds of the contest.

"I thought we had a good opportunity," James said. "[Doncic] came off clean, and I think he felt off-balance. But we executed. We didn't get the shot that that that we wanted."

After being asked about the final play again, James provided a clearer response about what he felt happened.

"I mean, obviously, you have to ask Luka what he saw on there, but I thought he had a good look," James said. "And it looked like he kind of just lost his balance. Didn't have a rhythm with the ball. Whatever the case may be. And it kind of allowed [his defender] to get back in front of him.

"I was kind of off balance when he gave it to me. I thought he had a great look, but. That's what I look. That's my POV."

Doncic was also asked about the play in question after the loss. The six-time All-Star said he found James open. Doncic admitted, however, that he should have chosen to attack the defense. “That’s on me," he conceded.

The Lakers have now lost two in a row. They are 1-2 since the All-Star break and are 34-23 overall. L.A. is sixth in the Western Conference and remain one game behind the Minnesota Timberwolves.
