LeBron James and Luka Doncic Make Lakers History in Win Over Pelicans

At this point in LeBron James' storied career, every game seems to offer an opportunity to make history. Entering Tuesday's home matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Orleans Pelicans, James was just one-point shy of becoming the first player in NBA history to score 50,000 points.

Not only did James score his one point, he went ahead and made history twice on Tuesday night. This time, he left extra room under the spotlight for his newest partner in crime, Luka Doncic.

James and Doncic made Lakers history together, inside Crypto.com arena, in their 136-115 win over the Pelicans.

According to StatMamba on X, James and Doncic became the first duo in Lakers history to score at least 30 points and make at least five 3-pointers in the same game. James finished with 34 points and five 3-pointers made while Doncic finished with 30 points and six 3-pointers made.

With the amount of Hall-of-Fame players to don a Lakers uniform, it's incredible that this feat has never been accomplished in the franchise's history.

It's also incredible to think that just two weeks ago, fans were ripping Doncic to shreds on social media for his struggles on the court in his first three games with the Lakers. Doncic has more than adjusted to his new team as well as playing alongside James. Doncic is averaging 25.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 8.8 assists over his last six games (including one triple-double).

At 40 years old, James is averaging 24.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game this season and is fresh off another Western Conference Player of the Month award in February (No. 41 of his career).

Behind James and Doncic's historic night, the Lakers have now won seven consecutive games and sit in the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference with a 39-21 record.
