Although four-time NBA champion LeBron James and Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo faced off in the 2020 Finals, both guys now play with each other for Team USA. This prompted the Los Angeles Lakers forward to give his new teammate a WWE-related nickname.
During the previous season, the Heat demonstrated their unwavering trust in Adebayo by naming him the successor to the esteemed Udonis Haslem as team captain. Despite his newfound leadership responsibilities, Adebayo remains open to seeking guidance when necessary.
Seizing the opportunity while representing Team USA this summer, he has chosen to learn from one of the true legends of the NBA. Adebayo has been engaging in workouts with none other than James.
Although James graced the Miami Heat from 2010 to 2014, the timing never aligned for him to share the court with Adebayo. By the time Adebayo was drafted in 2017 , James had already returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, this past week in Las Vegas provided them with a chance to make up for lost time.
Together, they honed their skills before embarking on their journey to Paris to compete in the Olympics. While this marks Adebayo’s second stint representing his country, James is participating for the third and final time, adding an extra layer of significance to their shared experience.
Throughout Team USA’s preparation for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, both James and Adebayo have spent a lot of time practicing together. This prompted the King to give the Miami Heat big man a new nickname related to a former WWE star, as seen in an article by Chris Phelps for Athlon Sports.
“On Sunday, LeBron and Adebayo participated in a practice to prepare for their next scrimmage. As any player would, Adebayo posted a picture of himself and LeBron practicing together on social media.
LeBron reposted the image on his own account, giving Adebayo a new nickname: “Bam Bam Bigalow,” Phelps wrote.
Bam Bam Bigelow was a professional wrestler known for his imposing physical presence and agility. He competed in various wrestling promotions, including New Japan Pro-Wrestling, World Wrestling Federation (WWF), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).
Adebayo’s new nickname seems fitting since the person it was derived from was a feared presence throughout his wrestling career. With the Olympics set to happen soon, the Heat big man will have a solid chance to prove himself worthy of James’ monicker for him.
