The Los Angeles Lakers played in the second night of a back-to-back set on Thursday in a road game against the Portland Trail Blazers. LeBron James headed into the game with a questionable tag (foot) following Wednesday's 100-97 loss to the Charlotte Hornets.
Well, not only did LeBron suit up against the Blazers, but he also dominated the game to lead a Luka Doncic-less Lakers side to a much-needed 110-102 win in Portland.
James went off in this one, logging a game-high 40 points on 14-of-24 shooting, to go along with eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, a block and four triples in 36 minutes of action. The NBA's all-time leading scorer turned the ball over 11 times, but this was, perhaps, offset by the fact that he made history yet again in the game.
After Thursday's scoring onslaught, LeBron is now the only player in NBA history to register multiple 40-point games at the age of 40.

James turned 40 on Dec. 30, and he first surpassed the 40-point mark on Feb. 6 with a 42-point effort against the Golden State Warriors. Now that he's repeated that feat, LeBron made another mark in the NBA history books.
That wasn't the only historic achievement for the four-time NBA champ on Thursday night. This was James' 1,542nd career game, which allowed him to surpass Vince Carter for the No. 3 spot for most career games played.
The Lakers have improved 33-21 after Thursday's victory. They remain fifth in the Western Conference.
