LeBron James has done almost everything in the NBA and in the playoffs, but there’s one thing the Los Angeles Lakers star has achieved that stands out. This moment will probably go unmatched for a long time.

King James gets especially focused during the playoffs. He even has a signature “LeBron stare,” first seen during the 2012 postseason when he was still part of the Miami Heat and battling the Boston Celtics. He continues to elevate his game when the stakes are high, but during a first-round series against the Houston Rockets, he admitted there was a moment when he blanked out.

It had to do with his son, Bronny, who is now his teammate and playing important minutes. James sat down with NBA legend Steve Nash on the Mind the Game podcast and shared the special on-court moment he experienced with his firstborn—something he says cannot be duplicated.

The father-son duo ran up the court with LeBron dribbling the ball. He found his son for an alley-oop layup, a moment he described as unforgettable.

The four-time champion broke down the plays he shared with Bronny. He also admitted that he had to pause for a moment and take it all in right there on the court.

“Something that I’ve learned, obviously at this stage of my career and being 41 years old, is to appreciate the small wins in the moment—and that was one of those moments where I’ve always been locked in,” he said on the podcast.

“And that moment right there—throwing him the lob, seeing him make the shot, us going back and forth—I kind of blanked out for a little bit and really just accepted and relished that moment.”

The play has gone viral and continues to spark discussion. A Hoop Central post has garnered 2.5 million views and 64,000 likes.

James is still playing well in crucial games as a first option—something unprecedented for a 41-year-old with such heavy mileage. Even he is surprised at how his career is turning out.

People can credit Bronny for that. A fan theory suggests that Lakers coach JJ Redick is inserting Bronny to the line-up from time to time because Bron is playing better when his son is on the floor. This fan theory on X now has 2.7 million views.

James may be indirectly confirming that. In the same podcast, he said that Bronny has been his main motivation this postseason.

“To be able to have Bronny in the locker room has definitely helped out a lot as well. I have a job and a responsibility to show him what it means to be a professional,” he said.
