The NBA season is just around the corner, and on Monday, teams across the league held their annual media day—which for Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James marked his 23rd.
This season, James is set to become the longest-tenured player in NBA history when he takes the floor. While he acknowledged that retirement is certainly approaching, he made it clear his passion for the game remains strong.
"I don't know when the end is, but I know it's a lot sooner than later," James said on Monday.
Also on Monday, James made an exciting off-the-court announcement on social media. Through his co-founded media company, Uninterrupted, he revealed that he’ll be hosting a four-part digital series titled "The Main Thing," where he’ll sit down with “masters of their crafts,” including Tony Hawk, Marques Brownlee, Teyana Taylor, and Melody Ehsani.
Episode one is set to debut Oct. 2 on YouTube. James spoke about the new venture in a teaser video and even reacted to Uninterrupted’s post with the classic eye emojis.
"I had to get some of the most skilled and talented people out there for this one," James says in the clip. "The ones who are always leveling up and taking full advantage of the opportunity when it comes... Y’all ready?"

Someone else added, "I SPEAK FOR EVERYONE WHEN I SAY WE WILL BE WATCHING."
Another person wrote, "We will be watching GOAT."
"can't wait for it LeBron," one more fan commented.
LeBron James is set to turn 41 in December, and while he continues to make waves both on and off the court, nothing captures more of his focus than basketball once the season arrives. The Lakers will open the year on Oct. 21 against the Golden State Warriors, marking the NBA’s opening night.
