The Philadelphia 76ers have gotten off to a phenomenal start to the season following their 112-106 victory over the Detroit Pistons, but LeBron James is pumping the brakesLeBron James is pumping the brakes on NBA Finals chatter. ESPN’s Kris Rhim pointed out that the previous teams that LeBron James was on that finished 7-1 each made the NBA Finals, but that fact doesn’t mean that the team is NBA Finals-bound per James’s postgame comments.

“It’s too early to be talking about the Finals and things of that nature on Nov. 4. So we’ll continue just to buy into what we want to do. … We got a good team. Guys vibe with one another, guys like each other, guys enjoy being around each other.”

Nick Nurse agreed with James on level-setting expectations.

“I wouldn’t read any super long-term stuff into anything, cause it’s early. I think we feel like that was another game where it feels like we’re getting a touch better. … But the goal right now is to stretch out those good periods of play and minimize those bad periods of play.”

Philadelphia has started the season 8-1 following their victory over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night, and LeBron James has been a huge part of the early-season success. James is averaging 15.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.4 assists on 45.7% shooting. In the victory over the Pistons, he finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists while knocking down one 3-pointer and shooting 50% from the field.

James also became the first player in NBA history to make 16,000 field goals, with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James being the only players with over 15,000.
