LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are splitting ways after accomplishing a lot together over an eight-season run (2018-2026). In Los Angeles, James broke the all-time scoring record, played with his son, Bronny James, and, most importantly, brought home the franchise's 17th championship.
On June 30, James and his representative, Klutch Sports Group's Rich Paul, announced that he had spent his last season in Los Angeles. The four-time NBA MVP (2012, 2013, 2016, 2020) still has gas in the tank, averaging 20.9 points per game while shooting 51.5% from the field to go along with 7.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists. The St. Vincent-St. Mary High School graduate still provides a defensive presence, averaging 0.6 blocks and 1.2 steals.
As James takes his time to choose his destination for his 24th NBA season, the 41-year-old took time out on Saturday to comment on a historic achievement in the WNBA. Caitlin Clark made history during the Indiana Fever's 110-107 victory over the Seattle Storm.
Clark erupted for 45 points on 6-for-10 shooting from behind the arc and 11-for-18 from the field. The 6-foot guard achieved a double-double by dishing out 10 assists, along with contributing two rebounds, all in 29 minutes of action. The achievement set the record for the most points accounted for in a WNBA game at 65, the most points scored in a game by a player this season, was the first 40-10 game in Fever franchise history, and was a career high of 45 points.
On Saturday, James reacted to Clark's outburst on his Instagram Story. The four-time NBA champion posted a graphic showing a split-screen with Clark on top pointing to her jersey and the bottom graphic showing her shooting a deep 3-pointer. The screenshot has "CAREER-HIGH 45 POINTS AND THE MOST IN FEVER HISTORY FOR CAITLIN CLARK" written on it.
James posted the muscle-flex emoji along with the ❗️exclamation mark to emphasize the point. The graphic also credits @ESPN, @WNBA, @SportsCenter and @ESPNW at the bottom right.
