While he isn’t directly involved, LeBron James does have a small hand in the NASCAR world, and he’s using it for good. LeBron is a partner in Fenway Motorsports. The same Fenway that the “F” in RFK Racing stands for. Recently, the NBA icon and Cup Series organization teamed up for a great reason.
With his LeBron James Family Foundation, the Los Angeles Lakers star sent an Akron high school student, CeCe Wilson, to the NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway. CeCe wanted a way to get into racing, and LeBron and RFK Racing showed him how he can do that in many different ways.
CeCe got the full experience. He met with RFK Racing drivers Chris Buscher, Brad Keselowski, and Ryan Preece. Becoming a race car driver is a tough thing to do. If you don’t already have the money or sponsorship support, it is almost impossible to reach the highest levels of the sport.
However, LeBron James and RFK Racing showed CeCe that he doesn’t have to drive to be in racing. There are many other jobs and opportunities for those who want to pursue their passion in the sport.

The Akron teenager said it was the coolest experience of his life. His father was able to join him and was just as impressed by the NASCAR experience, and it was thanks to LeBron James.
While LeBron is mostly known for his basketball career, he does a lot outside of the sport. Teaming up with RFK Racing last week is the latest example.
Speaking of RFK Racing, this weekend is major for the organization. They are coming off of a fantastic three-way top-10 finish at Michigan. Pretty cool that CeCe was in attendance for that effort. But this weekend, RFK is hoping to finally get a win in 2025.
The LeBron James factor in NASCAR isn’t that strong. However, we have seen the LeBron James Family Foundation on an RFK car in the past. This weekend, Chris Buescher is hoping to bring Roush-Fenway-Keselowski Racing a win in Mexico City.
Buescher is perhaps the most underrated road course racer. Well, maybe not underrated anymore after his win at Watkins Glen last season. He took down Shane van Gisbergen in that effort in one of the best road course finishes of the Next Gen era.
Can Chris Buescher get the job done in Mexico City? It would completely turn the season around for RFK Racing and Buescher’s No. 17 team. Not to mention, it would be a historic victory in the first-ever Cup Series race in Mexico City.
