Liverpool made history on Thursday by sitting idle and watching Chelsea defeat Manchester City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, a result that guaranteed Liverpool their first ever Premier League crown and their first top-flight title since 1990.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar and three-time NBA champion LeBron James celebrated the achievement via social media:
PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LET’S GO @LFC #YNWA♥️

James is no ordinary fan who tunes in to watch Premier League action on Saturday and Sunday mornings in the United States. As noted by Kyle Dalton of Sportscasting, the basketball King received a two percent stake in the football club from a 2011 business deal. Dalton estimated James' Liverpool investment has earned him a profit of roughly $36.5 million as of May 2020.
James also celebrated last June when Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League Final:
YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE‼️‼️‼️‼️ #WEARELIVERPOOL❤️ CONGRATULATIONS MEN AND ANYONE THAT HAS ANY AFFILIATION WITH THE CLUB!! @LFC
