Lonzo Ball Injury Update: Bulls Guard Is Finally Pain-Free
Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

On March 16, 2023, Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball underwent cartilage transplant surgery on his left knee. This procedure took place almost two years after he played his last game for the Bulls. Now, Ball is reportedly feeling pain-free, according to Bulls head coach Billy Donovan.

We all know the Lonzo Ball story. The "35 games of excellence" are embedded into the memory of Bulls fans as Ball helped lead Chicago to the best record in the Eastern Conference to begin the 2021-22 season. But when he went down, the ship sank.

"The pain that he was experiencing has been eliminated." Those are some beautiful words from Donovan. Want to hear some more beautiful words? The plan is for Ball to start running again in January.

Though Ball is still not expected to return to the Bulls this season, his pain finally subsiding is an all-around positive update.

I and all Bulls fans certainly hope Ball can return to form. What a great story that would be. Hopefully, all the setbacks are out of his way and the journey back has no further turbulence. He's already experienced enough of it for several lifetimes.
