Lonzo Ball Predicts Brother LaMelo Ball Will Get Traded To Clippers
Patrick Gorski-Imagn Images

Bulls guard Lonzo Ball went on the “What an Experience” podcast and said this:

“I lowkey got Dylan Harper going to the Hornets and I got (LaMelo Ball) going to the (Clippers).”

OK, let’s stop right there.

First off, Dylan Harper to the Hornets? At No. 4? Not happening. Not unless Charlotte makes a major move up the board. Harper isn’t just in the top tier, he’s the tier. No one around the league expects him to fall past San Antonio at No. 2. That’s assuming the Spurs even keep the pick. If they don’t? Whoever trades for it is trading to get Harper. Period.

Right now, it looks like San Antonio could roll out a backcourt of De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, and Harper. On paper, and that’s fairly nasty in a good way. Not a bad group to grow with Victor Wembanyama, either. Charlotte? Sure, they might want Harper. But barring a blockbuster, they’ll be shopping from the next shelf.

As for LaMelo to the Clippers, huh?

The Clippers are trying to clear the books for 2027, maybe sooner, when the Kawhi Leonard/James Harden window shuts for good. LaMelo’s got four years, $168.7 million left. That’s not a small number. And it’s not a clean fit, either. The ball would be out of Harden’s hands, and that’s not how LA wants to operate right now.

Yes, LaMelo can score and pass (25.2 points, 7.4 assists), but execs around the league are still waiting to see him help a team win. Defense has been a rumor. And the high-usage, flashy style hasn’t translated to playoff basketball, or really anything close.

Fun podcast banter? Sure. But realistic? Not even lowkey.
