With less than a month to go before the regular season ends, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are racing against time to make the playoffs. Along the way, the Purple and Gold achieved a feat not seen since 1987, at the expense of the Indiana Pacers.

In a recent 150-145 win against the Pacers, five of the nine players fielded by head coach Darwin Ham that night scored in double digits. Foremost among these guys is Anthony Davis’ 36 points to go along with his 16 rebounds, three assists, and two steals. James added 26 points, five rebounds, and 10 assists while Austin Reaves had 25 points on 40 percent shooting from deep. Spencer Dinwiddie also had 26 points as the Lakers handled their business against Indiana.

The Pacers, on the other hand, had an abysmal performance from Tyrese Haliburton when the All-Star guard only made 12 points on 38 percent shooting from the field. Pascal Siakam handled much of the offensive load by dropping 36 points and 12 rebounds.

The win helped Los Angeles stay within the Play-In Tournament as they continue to hold the ninth seed in the Western Conference. Even with Haliburton’s post All-Star Game slump, the Pacers are still within contention by having the sixth seed in the East.

Without a doubt, the Lakers are a franchise that holds so much history and achievements since the NBA’s birth in 1946. As it stands, Los Angeles recent win against the Pacers resulted in a feat not seen in 13,569 days.

“The Lakers score a season-high 150 points, their highest tally since the 1986-87 season, in a thrilling 150-145 victory over the Indiana Pacers,” Spectrum SportsNet posted.

“The Lakers 150 points tonight is the most they’ve scored in 13,596 days!! (1987),” LakeShowYo shared.

“Most points since the Showtime Era,” the Lakers official account tweeted.

The Lakers’ recent win helped the team stay within the playoff picture. With a volatile situation in the West, every win is crucial if the LeBron James-led team hopes to make the postseason.

If Los Angeles manages to make the playoffs, there would be more chances for the squad to show off, much like what the Showtime era team did in the 80s. In any case, their recent win against Indiana is a step in the right direction.
