The Los Angeles Lakers have no long-term concern about Luka Dončić‘s injuries, according to NBA reporter Dan Woike of The Athletic.

Dončić has a left finger sprain and a lower left leg contusion.

The Lakers are 2-1 on the season. They lost to the Golden State Warriors on opening night and beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 and the Sacramento Kings in Game 3.

Dončić is averaging 46.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 8.5 assists through two games while shooting 62.0% from the field, 31.8% from beyond the arc and 79.3% from the free-throw line.

The Lakers acquired Dončić from the Dallas Mavericks last season. Dončić signed an extension with Los Angeles this offseason worth $161 million.

Dončić is expected to decline his 2028-29 player option with the Lakers and sign a new deal with the Purple and Gold.

The Lakers are now without Dončić and LeBron James. The leading scorer in NBA history, James is out with sciatica on his right side.

Dončić and James played 23 games together last season. The Lakers went 15–8 in those games.

Dončić averaged 27.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.4 blocks alongside James, who averaged 23.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.6 blocks next to Dončić.

James, 40, picked up his 2025-26 player option with the Lakers. He will make $52.6 million this season in the final year of his contract. The NBA icon will become an unrestricted free agent next offseason for the first time since 2018.

Dončić wants James to retire from the NBA with the Lakers, a source told DallasHoopsJournal. Dončić has frequently said James was the player he watched most growing up. The former Mavericks star enjoyed playing alongside James last season and believes the Lakers can contend for the championship this season.
