Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James Believes Dallas Mavericks Will Be ‘Super Intriguing’ This Season

NBA legend LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers believes the Dallas Mavericks will be “super intriguing” this season.

The Mavericks have a talented roster, headlined by Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Cooper Flagg and Daniel Gafford.

“Dallas is super intriguing in that sense,” LeBron James said on the latest episode of Mind The Game. “Obviously, we know 1A, 1B, 1C is the health of Kyrie cuz he’s that dynamic. And if when we get to the postseason, having those guys that can make dynamic plays. AD is gonna be AD. Klay is gonna shoot the piss out the ball. And the rest of those complementary guys, Max Christie, love Max Christie. Naji Marshall, tough as nails. P.J. Washington, Dereck Lively II, Gafford, all those guys. There’s some depth there.

“Their coaching staff has a lot to work with. And a lot of size, a lot of length. So it’s gonna be very intriguing. I think that’s a very intriguing team.”

The Mavericks traded Luka Dončić to James’ Lakers last season for Davis and Christie. After making the NBA Finals in 2024, Dallas missed the playoffs in 2025.

Irving will miss the start of this season because of his ACL tear. The Mavericks signed James’ old point guard, D’Angelo Russell, this offseason. Russell played with Davis on the Lakers, so the two have a rapport on the court.

The Mavericks begin the regular season at home against the San Antonio Spurs. NBA fans get to see Davis and Flagg take on Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs superstar who got taller and stronger this summer.

James, 40, will miss the start of the season for the Lakers because of sciatica on his right side. He could make his season debut in mid-November, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN.

The leading scorer in NBA history, James is the oldest active player in the league. He turns 41 in December.
