NBA superstar Luka Dončić of the Los Angeles Lakers is doing intermittent fasting this offseason.

Dončić has gone on an intermittent fasting plan designed to limit inflammation and help his body recover better.

“Since June, Luka Dončić has gone on an intermittent fasting plan designed to limit inflammation and help his body recover better,” Men’s Health wrote. “Six days a week, he chokes down two high-protein meals and one protein shake—and he doesn’t have that first meal until he’s crushed his 90-minute morning workout.”

Dončić has lost weight and built muscle this offseason. The five-time All-Star fasts from 8:30 PM to 12 noon the following day. He does this every day except Sunday.

The Dallas Mavericks shockingly traded Dončić to the Lakers last season. Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison thought Dončić was out of shape and didn’t take his diet, body and conditioning seriously.

After the Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in five games, Dončić told people close to him that all he wanted to do this offseason was train. The 26-year-old told Men’s Health that he can see the transformation he’s making.

“Just visually, I would say my whole body looks better,” Dončić said.

28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 7.7 assists. That’s what Dončić averaged last season when he was “out of shape.” It’s exciting to think about the numbers Dončić is going to put up next season with the Lakers with his new body.

Los Angeles will sign Dončić to an extension this offseason. Dončić is committed to the Lakers, as he recruited Deandre Ayton and Marcus Smart to the franchise this offseason.

Dončić enters next season with career averages of 28.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.2 assists with the Mavericks and Lakers. He’s third in NBA history in points per game, trailing only basketball legends Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.
