The NBA season is right around the corner, and anticipation in Los Angeles is high as the Lakers prepare to take the floor once again. This will mark Luka Doncic’s first full season with the organization since being acquired at last season’s trade deadline.
The Lakers will hold their media day on September 29, with training camp beginning in early October. Their first preseason game is scheduled for Oct. 3 against the Phoenix Suns.
The team has been in the news recently after general manager Rob Pelinka announced an extension for head coach JJ Redick’s contract. On Saturday, the Lakers made another announcement, revealing the addition of two new players to the roster.
Los Angeles has agreed to deals with forward Anton Watson and guard Nate Williams, both of whom will have the opportunity to prove their worth and potentially earn a spot with the main team or with the South Bay Lakers, the organization’s G League affiliate.
Anton Watson spent his rookie season last year with the New York Knicks, appearing in nine games for the team and averaging 2.4 minutes and 0.9 points per game. He was drafted No. 54 overall by the Boston Celtics.
With the Westchester Knicks in the G League, Watson averaged 12.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. He played collegiately at Gonzaga before entering the draft.

Nate Williams, meanwhile, spent the last two years with the Houston Rockets, appearing in 42 games over that span. His rookie season was with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2022–23, where he played in five games and averaged 10.6 points.
Williams has yet to find a stable role in the NBA, but in the G League with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, he averaged 17.3 points and 4.0 assists, demonstrating his ability as a high-volume scorer when given the opportunity.
