Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic is representing his home country of Slovenia well. Recently, a group of Laker fans marveled at his presence at a Slovenian gas station.
Also, it’s worth noting that he is playing for the Slovenian national team in the EuroBasket tournament. Certainly, Doncic’s talent and persona are worth admiring, and one admirer took it up a notch. On Wednesday, Clippers guard and Serbian captain Bogdan Bogdanović openly characterized Doncic ’s abilities, referencing the word “kill,” per EuroHoops.net.
“He can kill anyone in a tournament,” he said. “He can go for 50, 60 points… that’s what makes him special.”
So far, Doncic is doing his best to live up to that moniker. Recently, he scored 28 points, with 10 assists, and six rebounds in a game against Great Britain. Against Latvia, he was on a roll, scoring 26 points in the first half before coming down with an injury.
Afterwards, it was noted that Doncic didn’t receive a serious injury. Meanwhile, Doncic is also preparing for what is undoubtedly to be a highly anticipated season with the Lakers.
After all, he is fresh off signing a $165 million contract extension with the Lakers and being in the best shape of his life.
All in all, 2025 will be a defining year with Doncic for more years than one. The launching point was the historic trade from the Mavericks to the Lakers with Anthony Davis, a deal that threw the league and the sports world for a loop.
After that, Doncic joined forces with LeBron James to help lead the Lakers into the playoffs. Though they lost in the first round to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Doncic proved he belongs.
The trade, the contract extension, and his ability to play overseas effectively before training camp say a lot. It says that Doncic has reached a point in his career where everything is coming together.
