Luka Doncic Lands in Elite NBA Group After Lakers-Timberwolves Game

Luka Doncic is off to quite the start in his first full season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

It was evident early on in Friday’s game between the Lakers and the Minnesota Timberwolves that Doncic was going to have a dominant scoring night. He had over 30 points by halftime.

As the fourth quarter was winding down, Doncic reached the 40-point mark, which put him in elite NBA company.

One more point and it would’ve been a 50-point outing for Doncic on Friday.

The Lakers dominated the Timberwolves with a 128-110 victory. Missing LeBron James, the Lakers are expectedly leaning on Doncic to do a lot more than he was already expected to.

In 35 minutes of action, Doncic shot 14-23 from the field on Friday. He scored 49 points and nearly notched a triple-double with 11 rebounds and eight assists.

Earlier this week, Doncic and the Lakers took on the Golden State Warriors. During the 119-109 loss for the Lakers, Doncic checked in for 41 minutes. He made over 60 percent of his shots from the field, producing 43 points. He scored a double-double with 12 rebounds and was just one assist shy of a triple-double.

After helping the Lakers take down the Timberwolves to move to 1-1 on the year, the Lakers are now looking ahead to Sunday night, when they’ll take on the Sacramento Kings on the road. Doncic will look to keep the 40-point streak alive, as he continues making history in the Lakers’ backcourt.
