Luka Doncic was shockingly traded to the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this year.
The five-time NBA All-Star recently signed a contract extension with the franchise that will keep him from being a free agent next summer.
He also made a statement about playing for the franchise.
Doncic (via Lakers.com): "I’m really grateful to the Lakers organization, my teammates and the fans for welcoming me and my family with so much support and kindness since day one. This is an amazing organization, and I truly believe in what we’re building together. I’m going to keep working as hard as I can to bring another championship to Los Angeles and to make Laker Nation proud. This is just the beginning. I’m excited for what’s ahead and to keep building something special with this team."

Doncic finished last year (with the Mavs and Lakers) averaging 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 1.8 steals per contest while shooting 45.0% from the field and 36.8% from the three-point range in 50 games.
Despite a strong finish to the season, the Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs.
Doncic wrote (via X on August 2): "I just signed my extension with the Lakers. Excited to keep working to bring championships to LA and make Laker Nation proud. Grateful to the Lakers, my teammates and all the fans who’ve shown so much love since day one. This is just the beginning. "
