Three-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion Mac McClung is heading to the G League Finals. On Sunday night, the 26-year-old led the Osceola Magic, the affiliate of the Orlando Magic, to the finals for only the second time in franchise history, defeating the Maine Celtics 135-122. The Celtics, led by newly crowned G League MVP JD Davison, fought hard but fell short.
McClung, who is signed to a two-way contract with the Magic, delivered a standout performance, scoring 42 points and adding six assists on 16-of-26 shooting, including 3-of-7 from three-point range.
This came on the heels of a 39-point, six-assist outing in the opening round of the playoffs, further solidifying his status as one of the postseason’s brightest stars.

During the G League regular season, McClung averaged a blistering 25.7 points per game, matching his career-high from last season, while also contributing 5.6 assists. He shot an impressive 37.8 percent from beyond the arc, totaling 770 points for the season—the most in the league.
In another strong offensive season, he has firmly established himself as one of the G League’s premier scorers. Against the Celtics, McClung’s offensive versatility was on full display. He consistently found ways to break down Maine’s defense while also setting up his teammates for easy buckets.
The Magic also received valuable contributions from Myron Gardner, who recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, providing a strong presence in the paint. Javonte Smart added 17 points off the bench, while Jalen Slawson and Ethan Thompson each contributed 20 points, ensuring the Magic had multiple offensive threats to complement McClung’s explosive performance.
While Davison posted an impressive 34 points and 11 assists for the Celtics, his efforts couldn’t match McClung’s brilliance. With this win, the Osceola Magic now advance to the G League Finals, where they will face the Stockton Kings. McClung’s continued excellence will be vital if the Magic are to claim their second G League Championship, following their victory in 2021.
