As the NBA Finals near a conclusion, Earvin "Magic" Johnson continues a well-documented summer ritual: his annual European holiday.
This year’s Mediterranean retreat took him and his wife, Cookie, to Croatia’s sun-drenched Dalmatian coast and historic towns like Hvar and Split.
On Wednesday, Johnson posted new photos from Croatia with the caption, "We’ve been having an amazing time in Croatia in Hvar and the city Split. We loved walking around Hvar and finished with lunch at Laganini Beach Club. In Split, we had an incredible dinner at Restaurant Adriatic.
"The restaurants are wonderful, and all of our meals have been outstanding! The fish and seafood are so fresh, straight from the ocean to your plate, and the Croatian people are great. Cookie, our guests and I are having a ball!"
A five-time NBA champion, three‑time league MVP and three-time Finals MVP during the "Showtime" Los Angeles Lakers era, Johnson remains one of the most iconic figures in basketball.
Drafted first overall by the Lakers in 1979, he immediately made an impact, leading the franchise to an NBA title in his first year and becoming the first rookie ever to win NBA Finals MVP.
A 12‑time All‑Star and member of both the NBA’s 50th and 75th Anniversary teams, Johnson still holds the all-time record for assists per game in both the regular season (11.2) and playoffs (12.3).
Yet, his impact off the court has arguably been even greater. Over the past three decades, Johnson has built a multifaceted business empire, Magic Johnson Enterprises, that spans real estate, movie theaters and e-commerce
His ventures in sports ownership include co‑leading the Guggenheim Partners group that purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers for $2 billion in 2012 and later helping acquire the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks and co‑founding MLS club Los Angeles FC, which won the MLS Cup in 2022.
In 2023, he joined the investment group that bought the NFL’s Washington Commanders for $6.05 billion, fulfilling a lifelong dream to own an NFL franchise.
