Magic take 3-1 lead over Pistons with impressive defensive outing

The Orlando Magic secured a gritty 94-88 win over the Detroit Pistons on Monday, taking a 3-1 series lead.

Monday’s first two quarters were roller coasters. Ice-cold shooting defined the offense of both teams in the ugly battle.

The Magic jumped out to a sizable lead midway through the first quarter before Detroit responded and took a one-point lead after 12 minutes.

While Detroit had the upper hand in shooting percentage in the first half, they struggled immensely with turnovers. Orlando’s defense put Detroit’s offense out of character.

The Magic used this to their advantage in the second quarter and squeaked out three more points than the Pistons in that frame.

The third quarter was a huge cold slump for both teams. Even when open shots would be found, neither side could make them consistently.

After 12 long minutes, Orlando led by six heading into the final quarter.

Detroit attempted to fight through the cold slump in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t find the nylon when it mattered most.

Desmond Bane led the way for the Magic with 22 points and five rebounds on 5-of-10 long-range shooting.

For Detroit, Cade Cunningham put up 25 points, nine rebounds and six assists, but had eight turnovers.
