Masai Ujiri Opens Up About His Departure From Raptors

Masai Ujiri doesn’t seem to hold anything against the Toronto Raptors following his departure.

He appeared on Good Morning America on Thursday, and he was was happy and didn’t show any signs of being frustrated or upset with the Raptors decision to move on from him. This was Ujiri’s first public appearance since the Raptors dismissed him last week. He joined host Robin Roberts to promote his Giants of Africa program and he briefly talked about his time in Toronto.

“It’s been 12 incredible years with the Toronto Raptors, and I am so grateful and thankful for the opportunity. Fans, my family, colleagues, coaches, players, the owners, everybody has been incredible to me. Toronto, I love you. It’s a great journey in my life, and it’s time. Great things come to an end.”

Ujiri didn’t talk about the details about his exist. The team didn’t say anything bad about Ujiri following the decision. Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment stated he decision to part ways with Ujiri had been in the works for months. Ujiri remained involved throughout the Raptors draft process and draft night and even endorsed Toronto’s pick of Collin Murray-Boyles at No. 9.

Now it remains to be seen what’s next for Ujiri. He will continue to be paid by MLSE throughout the remainder of his contract which goes through next year. It will be interesting to see who ends up with Ujiri because it doesn’t seem like he plans to step away from basketball completely. The Raptors have already begun the search for a new team president.

Raptors announce 16-man Summer League roster

The Toronto Raptors have officially announced their Summer League roster.

Toronto will bring 16 players to Las Vegas this summer, headlined by their 2025 first-round pick Collin Murray-Boyles.
