The Dallas Mavericks are off to a disappointing start to the 2025-26 NBA season. They're 4-11 through the first 15 games of the season and are expected to remain without stars Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving for the forseeable future. Davis is ruled out with a complicated calf injury while Irving is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in February.

The Mavericks need all the help they can get on the court, which is where their 18-year-old No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg has shined. He's averaged 15.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists through 15 games in his rookie year, visibly improving with each game. Unfortunately, his on-court reps might be affected after the latest injury update shared by the Mavericks.

Flagg has been officially listed as questionable with an illness by the Mavericks before their Wednesday night clash against the New York Knicks. The game will tip off at 9:30 p.m. (EST), so Flagg and the Mavericks will have time until a few hours before to decide if he can participate.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft put up 15 points on 6-10 shooting from the field in his last outing, a 120-96 loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Flagg joins Caleb Martin (illness) on the questionable list while centers Daniel Gafford (ankle) and Dereck Lively II (knee) are listed as probable. Anthony Davis (calf), Kyrie Irving (knee), Dante Exum (knee) and Ryan Nembhard (knee) have been ruled out for this game.

The Knicks will be without OG Anunoby (hamstring) and might welcome former franchise guard Jalen Brunson (ankle) if his status improves from questionable before tip-off.

Flagg has shouldered a heavy minutes load since his NBA debut in October, averaging 33.7 minutes per game in the 15 contests he's appeared in.

He will likely push to be available for his team amid their rough start to the season, but his status is ultimately in the hands of the medical team.

The illness he's been listed questionable with is unknown, so more updates on his status will likely emerge throughout the day.
