Mavericks' Mark Cuban doesn't want to jinx Luka Doncic's secret move

In a recent interview with Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report , Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said star guard Luka Doncic is working on a secret move.

“I don’t want to jinx somebody, but if you see something [and] you’re going ‘Where the hell did that come from?’ you’ll know that’s what it was,” Cuban told Rooks. The Dallas owner refused to divulge more.

Cuban added he hoped Doncic, who's entering his fifth season in the NBA, would use the backboard more this season.

“I think that’s gonna be a thing in the NBA, where you see guys who are athletic throwing the ball off the backboard and finishing with the dunk, but I think strategically you’re gonna see it added into the NBA. I think Luka is going to benefit — hopefully will benefit.”

Doncic is getting ready for the EuroBasket tournament

Slovenia, led by Doncic, and Serbia, with reigning back-to-back NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, clashed in an exhibition on Wednesday. Both teams are getting ready for the EuroBasket tournament.

In Slovenia's 97-92 win, Doncic scored a game-high 34 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out six assists. Slovenia will play exhibitions against Estonia and Germany before playing Lithuania in their first game of the EuroBasket tournament on Sept. 1.

King James takes notice of Doncic, too

The Mavericks finished 52-30 last season, won their first playoff series since 2011 and advanced to the Western Conference finals. In the process, Doncic impressed teammates and opponents, including LeBron James, who has raved about the Mavericks' star.

On "The Shop: Uninterrupted” James said Doncic is his favorite player:

“His size. I mean he’s gigantic. A 6-8 point guard. He’s 225 pounds. He has the ball on a string. And more importantly, his vision. That’s why I love him. He can control a game. He doesn’t even have to shoot. Literally, he’ll walk the ball up 10 straight times and get to his spot every single time, just because of his pace."
