The Mavericks are expected to retain Moussa Cisse through October 1, guaranteeing the remainder of his $2,185,116 salary for the 2026/27 season, according to Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News ( Twitter link).
Cisse’s contract, which was initially non-guaranteed, became partially guaranteed for $1,092,558 when he stayed on Dallas’ roster through Sept. 1.
A 6’11” center from Guinea, Cisse went undrafted in 2025 out of Memphis and spent 2025/26 — his rookie season — on a two-way deal with the Mavs. The 24-year-old big man averaged 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 38 appearances (13.9 minutes per game), shooting 57.4% from the floor and 46.9% from the foul line.
Cisse, who also received 12 DNP-CD’s as part of his 50 active games, signed a two-year, minimum-salary offer sheet with the Knicks as a restricted free agent this summer. The Mavs matched that deal, and have now locked in Cisse’s contract for the 2026/27 campaign.
Cisse’s $2.57MM salary for 2027/28 remains non-guaranteed.
