The Miami Heat made a bright start against the Milwaukee Bucks but quickly faded away, ultimately losing despite Tyler Herro's 40-point performance on the night.
The result means that the Heat have now lost five of their last six games, with their only win coming against the struggling Toronto Raptors.
Their record is now 26-29 as they sit 8th in the Eastern Conference. At best, they look like a play-in team.
The Heat had more to be worried about than just the result coming out of the game against the Bucks though.
Nikola Jovic suffered an injury in the first half and did not return on the night. And it looks like he might be on the sidelines for a while.
According to CBS Sports, X-rays revealed a fracture on the second metacarpal of Jovic's right hand. His injury will likely keep him out of action for an extended period of time.
Jovic has been a solid contributor for the Heat this season. He has played 46 games in which he has averaged 10.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 25.1 minutes.
Thus, Jovic remaining out for any significant length of time would be a blow for the Heat. It does open the window of opportunity for Haywood Highsmith and Kyle Anderson to reenter the rotation though.
At the moment, it is hard to judge where this team is going. Herro and Bam Adebayo are playing well. Andrew Wiggins has put in a couple of promising displays as well since arriving as part of Jimmy Butler's trade to the Golden State Warriors.
Overall, the Heat do not look like a winning team though. So, do not be surprised if they try to recruit a superstar in the summer. Unfortunately, their recent success rate in that regard has been dismal.
