One Miami Heat star is expected to play a crucial role in the organization’s hopes of bouncing back next season.

From the 2019-20 season to the 2025 NBA Trade Deadline, the Miami Heat’s roster was built around star forward Jimmy Butler.

However, with Butler getting traded to the Golden State Warriors, the Heat are entering a new era. An era where the likes of Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo will spearhead the team during the season.

Aside from the dynamic duo, an anonymous Heat executive believes 21-year-old center Kel’el Ware will be crucial to the team’s success next season.

Kel’el Ware is expected to have a ‘big year’ next season

After putting up 9.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game in the 2024-25 NBA season, Ware earned immense praise from the Heat Nation.

As a result, he’s expected to play a vital role in the team’s success in the future. While Ware’s talent is obvious, he needs to be more consistent to truly elevate to the next level.

This was evident from head coach Erik Spoelstra’s criticism of Ware during the 2025 NBA Summer League. But on a positive note, an anonymous Heat executive recently spoke highly of Ware via Spotrac.

“Big, big year coming for him. He’s another guy who won’t settle for anything other than being great. We’re looking forward to watching the leap he’s going to take as a second-year guy,” the executive stated.

They added: “Perfect fit with Bam [Adebayo] in our versatile frontcourt. Couldn’t be happier with how he’s coming along.”

At 7’0″, Ware has all the tools to become an elite center in the NBA. Additionally, as the executive mentioned, Ware’s rise to stardom will allow Adebayo to dominate as a power forward, giving the Heat a dominant frontcourt.

The Heat are known for their ability to get the best out of players. It’s impossible to do so without backing their players.

In the case of Ware, the Heat did that when they refused to include him in a potential trade for Kevin Durant. Ware later broke his silence on the Heat’s trust as well.

Ware has shown his commitment to the Heat with an incredible performance in the 2025 NBA Summer League. It included a phenomenal performance vs the Boston Celtics.

The 21-year-old has become a double-double machine in the Summer League, and the Heat would expect to see more of the same in the regular season.
