Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant never shared a team in real life, but together they just set a record off the court.
A rare dual logoman card featuring both legends’ signatures sold Sunday for $12.9 million, according to Fanatics Collect . That makes it the most expensive sports card ever, passing the $12.6 million mark once set by a 1952 Mickey Mantle.
The card’s path is almost as wild as its price. In 2013, collector Gerald Fortier bought it for $25,000. Two years later he flipped it for $170,000, thinking the offer was too strong to pass up. A decade later, the card came back on the market — and its value had ballooned more than seventyfold.

The previous basketball record was a Stephen Curry rookie card that sold for $5.9 million. The Jordan–Bryant card more than doubled that number, a fitting result for two players who defined a generation of basketball and remain among the most recognizable athletes in the world.
Jordan, of course, won six championships with the Bulls in the 1990s and remains the gold standard for greatness. Bryant claimed five titles with the Lakers and left behind a legacy that continues to grow even after his tragic passing in 2020.
Now their names are tied to another kind of history, proving their value doesn’t just live in highlight reels and championship banners, but in the collectibles market too.
