Entering into Wednesday night's matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, the New York Knicks' sixth man Miles McBride was questionable due to a rib contusion. McBride played through the injury until halftime. McBride played the final possession of the first half and did not return for the second half.

The team ruled McBride out for the remainder of the contest with the left rib contusion that he suffered during Tuesday night's game against the Indiana Pacers.

McBride played just eight minutes in the contest, missing his only shot. He recorded an assist and a foul, and was a +1.

The Knicks came into the matchup already shorthanded, as Mitchell Robinson is still recovering from left ankle surgery, and OG Anunoby was once again out with the right foot sprain he suffered against the Los Angeles Lakers on February 1.

For McBride, he was having one of his best stretches of the season. McBride's performance against the Pacers on Tuesday night was one of his best of the year, as he posted 15 points, knocking down all four of his three-point attempts.

Over his last seven games coming into Wednesday night, McBride was averaging 10.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game in just shy of 25 minutes per contest, while knocking down 39.4 percent of his 4.7 three-point attempts per game.

Defensively, McBride has been as dangerous as ever. Per nba.com, over his last three games, McBride held opponents to just five-of-26 from the field as their primary defender, a defensive field goal percentage of 19.2 percent.

On the season, his fourth in the NBA, McBride is averaging 9.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He has been head coach Tom Thibodeau's most trusted confidant off the bench, averaging 23.6 minutes per game.

The severity of McBride's rib contusion is unknown, if he was willing to suit up for Wednesday's contest, it's unlikely the injury is chronic. But it's bad enough for him to not finish out the game. It's unknown if McBride will miss an additional time or what the recovery time for the injury is.

For the Knicks, they desperately need McBride at full strength, as their main minute-getter off an already short Thibodeau bench. Wednesday night's matchup is the Knicks' last before the All-Star break, so McBride will have an extra weekend to recover and not miss any time.
