Milwaukee Bucks Point Guard Damian Lillard was upgraded to questionable for Game 2 on Tuesday night. The star point guard has been sidelined since March 18 with a blood clot in his right calf. Lillard’s prognosis took a positive turn when reported last week he was gearing up for a return to the hardwood. He is reportedly beginning to ramp up basketball activity. Monday’s news means the All-Star point could be a day away from his return. When will Lillard return and how will he play for the Milwaukee Bucks?

Milwaukee Bucks Struggle In Game 1

The Milwaukee Bucks looked overmatched in Game 1 against the Indiana Pacers. Milwaukee lost 117-98. Their lack of scoring was on full display. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored nearly 40% of Milwaukee’s points. The former MVP received no help from his teammates in Saturday’s loss. Whether Lillard returns for Game 2 or not, Antetokounmpo will be unable to win this series on his own. While the Pacers have the deeper roster, a more rounded offensive performance is required for Milwaukee to remain competitive.

Final Thoughts

Monday’s report regarding Lillard’s status was promising. While a return should come sooner rather than later, Lillard should not be expected to save the day. Blood clots are usually a long-term recovery. The fact Lillard will return in a little over a month is great news.

The blood clots presumably made it difficult for Lillard to stay in shape. His conditioning will be poor whenever he returns to the court. He will be eased back into the lineup, but the Milwaukee Bucks do not have the luxury of time. Their season is hanging in the balance.
