Miriam Adelson exits the Mavericks' ownership group

The Dallas Mavericks are getting another shake-up up top.

Mavericks co-owner Miriam Adelson is exiting the team’s ownership group, Tim MacMahon of ESPN reported on Tuesday. Adelson has reportedly sold off her shares in the Mavericks to her daughter Sivan Dumont and son-in-law Patrick Dumont.

MacMahon adds that Adelson has had “minimal” involvement with the Mavericks ever since purchasing the team in Dec. 2023 along with the Dumonts. In the wake of Adelson selling off her shares, the Dumonts now reportedly own a 69 percent controlling stake in the Mavericks.

Adelson, 81, is the widow of Las Vegas Sands founder and CEO Sheldon Adelson (who died in 2021). When former Mavericks majority owner Mark Cuban sold his controlling stake in the team, Adelson and the Dumonts purchased it at a valuation of $3.5 billion.

Under Adelson’s time as a co-owner, the Mavericks made the NBA Finals in 2024 but committed a franchise-altering blunder in trading away superstar Luka Doncic in 2025. This season, Dallas sits at 4-3 with 19-year-old phenom Cooper Flagg now running the show.

In an interview earlier this year, Cuban (who is still a minority owner of the Mavericks) said that he regretted who he sold the team to. While the Dumonts have consolidated their power as a result, at least one key part of the group that Cuban sold to is no longer in the picture in Adelson.
