The Orlando Magic will enter the 2025-26 NBA season with high expectations as they are expected to be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
Of course, Orlando finished seventh in the East last season after their star duo of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner missed extended periods due to injuries, along with Jalen Suggs.
Now they will look to bounce back this season with those three players healthy, along with some key roster additions this offseason.
Orland began their offseason by pulling off a blockbuster trade with the Memphis Grizzlies for Desmond Bane and they also signed Tyus Jones in free agency.
With these moves, the Magic will now try to clinch a top seed in the East this season as they try to make a run at a championship behind their young core.
While the Magic will try to make a deep playoff run this season, they may also look to upgrade their roster ahead of the trade deadline.
One area they could focus on is the center position, especially with Wendell Carter Jr.’s injury history.
If they do elect to address the center position this season, they may try and reunite with one of their former big men by targeting Nikola Vucevic from the Chicago Bulls.
In a potential trade, the Magic could send Jonathan Isaac and Jett Howard to the Bulls in exchange for Vucevic and draft capital.
While moving on from both Isaac and Howard could be a tough decision for the Magic to make, swapping them for Vucevic would be a massive boost to their frontcourt, which may work out in their favor due to the amount of talented big men in the NBA.
For Vucevic, he spent nine seasons in Orlando from 2012 to 2021 until the Magic traded him to the Bulls in the deal that involved Carter Jr.
The veteran big man would provide the Magic with a reliable starting center who is a great scorer and rebounder.
Last season, the 34-year-old center averaged 18.5 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 53.0% from the field and 40.2% from three.
Vucevic would give the Magic a major upgrade at the center position and would also provide them with another much-needed 3-point shooter.
His addition would also upgrade their frontcourt depth as they could move Carter Jr. to the bench as the new backup, which could help with his injury problems.
While this trade could work out well for the Magic as they would finally address their frontcourt need, they may also elect to keep their current roster together this season to chase a title, though Vucevic could help their title chances if they were to make this trade.
