It was a disappointing season last year for the Miami Heat as they finished 10th in the Eastern Conference standings, though they were able to secure the eighth seed through the Play-In Tournament before being swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round.

Of course, the Heat struggled for most of last season due to Jimmy Butler’s holdout and eventual trade and they are looking to bounce back this season behind their core of Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro and Andrew Wiggins.

Miami also added Norman Powell in the offseason in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers to add another reliable scorer to their offense.

While the Heat are looking to make a run at a top seed in the East this season, they still have some notable holes to fill in their roster and they could instead elect to shed some of their salary.

Lakers Linked to Andrew Wiggins

If that is the case, Wiggins’ name has been brought up as a potential trade candidate for Miami and the Los Angeles Lakers were recently linked to him.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Lakers are showing interest in Wiggins and could look to pull off a trade for him if the Heat make him available this season.

While Wiggins played a key role for the Heat last season, they may be willing to move the former champion ahead of the trade deadline and if it is to the Lakers, they could land a solid young forward in return.

Mock Trade Sends Andrew Wiggins to Heat for Dalton Knecht

In a potential trade, the Heat could send Wiggins to the Lakers in exchange for Dalton Knecht, Gabe Vincent, Maxi Kleber and draft capital.

For the Heat, making this trade would shed almost $2 million in salary and they would also add a young player in Knecht who showed potential last season.

Of course, Miami would also add a much-needed point guard in Vincent and Kleber could be a solid player for them off the bench.

Despite this, Knecht would be the headliner of this trade as he would give the Heat another young talent on their roster.

Last season, the 24-year-old forward averaged 9.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game while shooting 46.1% from the field and 37.6% from three.

Knecht is a solid scorer that could fit well next to Herro, Adebayo and Powell in the starting lineup while also giving the Heat another young player on their roster in case they do decide to start a rebuild.

Despite this, Los Angeles may be unwilling to include Knecht in a trade for Wiggins, though it is likely that Miami will want him to be included in a potential trade package.
