NBA Analyst Calls Out Unfair Treatment on Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Like WNBA star Caitlin Clark before him, Jayson Tatum has been on the receiving end of so much criticism these days. For NBA analyst Tim Legler, though, that has to stop due to the unfair nature of these critics.

Ever since he entered the league as the Celtics’ pick in the 2017 Draft, Tatum has established himself as an credible scorer and able defender on the other end of the court. Over the years, the young forward rose up to the challenge to become Boston’s number one guy on their roster.

This season is a bit different for Tatum and company . Thanks to the acquisition of Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, the Celtics managed to obtain the league’s best record and enter the playoffs with the Eastern Conference’s number one seed. Their momentum continued throughout the playoffs when the eliminated both the Jimmy Butler-less Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers within five games.

During the Conference Finals, Boston has continually shown how dominant they are by taking a commanding 3-0 lead against Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers. In that series, Tatum has averaged 31.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.3 steals in almost 44 minutes per contest.

NBA Analyst Tim Legler Calls Out Unfair Treatment of Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum in Playoffs

Tatum has seen his fair share of doubters and critics over the past few years. In response, NBA analyst Tim Legler defended the Celtics star over the unfair treatment he’s getting, as seen in a video clip shared by The Old Man and The Three Podcast’s account on X:

Legler makes a fair point since Tatum has been consistent in getting buckets and boards for his team for the past few years. And while there’s still some aspects of his game that can be improved upon, he isn’t like some superstars who have failed when it counts the most.

It remains to be seen whether Tatum can change the narrative by winning a championship this year. If he does, expect those critics to soften their tone against the Celtics All-Star forward.
