The Detroit Pistons had a promising 2025-26 NBA season, and they capped it off with a 133-121 victory against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. The next stop for the Pistons is the first-round of the playoffs. However, they are not sure which team they will face. Being the No. 1 team in the Eastern Conference, they need to wait for the results of the play-in tournament.

They could face any of the four teams (Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers and Charlotte Hornets) in the opening round. The Pistons are ready and looking forward to their second-straight postseason appearance. The last time Detroit had back-to-back seasons of being in the playoffs was during the 2008-09 season.

The Pistons snatched their 60th win of the season against the Pacers. It's the first time since the 2005-06 season that they reached the mark, and the league acknowledged it.

"WIN NO. 60 FOR THE PISTONS " the NBA posted. "This is Detroit's 3rd 60-win season in franchise history, and first since 2005-06!"

Head coach JB Bickerstaff gave credit to everyone for helping the team reach 60 wins. According to him, it was a team effort and a result of the work that everyone took time to invest in.

“It’s a sign of the work that has been done by everyone who is a part of this,” Bickerstaff said. “The front office, coaching staff, players, medical staff. Everybody that’s touched these guys and helped them with that consistency, with that effort.”

“It’s a group thing. Everybody who’s been a part of it should be celebrated for it.”

Bickerstaff knows that the work isn't done for the team and that it's going to get more challenging for them in the postseason.

It's a special accomplishment for the Pistons. The last time they had back-to-back playoff appearances, the team had just won the NBA championship in 2004. The team's performance this season is a promising start to a dynasty centered around the star duo of Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren. Additionally, Ausar Thompson, Tobias Harris, and Duncan Robinson were part of the duo's supporting ensemble.

The Pistons were eliminated early from the playoffs the previous season. They did not have home-court advantage and were ousted in the first round by the New York Knicks. This year, Detroit has the advantage of playing the first two games at the Little Caesars Arena.
