Dillon Brooks has made all sorts of waves since his offseason move to the Phoenix Suns. The 6-foot-6 forward-guard was part of the blockbuster trade deal that centered on Kevin Durant taking his talents to the Houston Rockets. In exchange for Durant, the Suns received Brooks, Jalen Green and two future draft picks.
Brooks has been a revelation for Phoenix to start the new NBA season. In seven games played this year, the 30-year-old has produced averages of 20.3 points on 43.6% shooting, 2.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.9 steals. He’s also knocking down 2.6 triples per game on a 32.7% clip.
Brooks had his best game of the season Thursday as the Suns blew out a shorthanded Indiana Pacers side, 133-98. The All-Defensive forward went off for 32 points on 12-of-18 shooting to help lead Phoenix to its fifth straight win.
Brooks, however, was involved in a controversial incident during the game. The Suns veteran hit the deck after hitting a wild fade-away floater. The ball somehow found the bottom of the net, which prompted a celebratory gesture from Brooks as he was on the floor.

Brooks busted out the infamous D-Generation X “suck it” crotch chop. The NBA reviewed the incident and was not pleased with it. It resulted in the league announcing a punishment decision for the Suns star’s behavior during the Pacers game.
“Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks has been fined $25,000 for making a lewd gesture on the playing court, it was announced today by James Jones, Executive vice President, Head of Basketball Operations,” NBA Communications posted on X on Friday night.

For context, Brooks is currently in the third season of his four-year, $86 million deal. He’s pocketing $21.1 million this season, which translates to roughly $257,000 per game.
Brooks and the Suns are back in action on Sunday in a home game against the Atlanta Hawks. They will be looking to improve on their 8-5 record.
