With Steph Curry out for the past few games with a hamstring injury, Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors have fallen into a 3-1 hole against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
On Wednesday, the Warriors, with Curry still sidelined, will look to keep their season alive in a critical Game 5 back in Minnesota.
Toward the end of Game 3, Green, with the Warriors trailing by eight, had some comments about the game's 5.5-point spread. Although it is unclear exactly what was said, his remarks didn't sit well with the NBA as Golden State wound up covering the spread during a 102-97 loss.
Just hours before Game 5, the league announced that Green has been fined $50,000 for "making an inappropriate comment that questions the integrity of game officials."
NBA Communications revealed the fine on social media.
"Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been fined $50,000 for making an inappropriate comment that questions the integrity of game officials, it was announced today by Byron Spruell, President, League Operations," the NBA wrote. "Green’s actions took place during the Warriors’ 102-97 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 3 of their conference semifinals playoff series on May 10 at Chase Center."

This is not the first time the NBA has handed out a hefty punishment over controversial comments. In early March, Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo was also fined $50,000 for "inappropriate contact with and directing profanity toward a referee."
Green has struggled in Curry's absence during the second-round series. Through four games, he is averaging 10.8 points on 39.0 percent shooting, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. His best performance without Curry came in Game 4, when he tallied 14 points, sevenrebounds and two assists. He totaled 11 points in Games 2 and 3 combined.
Green and the Warriors will face the Timberwolves in Game 5 on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. ET on TNT.
