NBA Best Bets: Play-in tourney Day 2

Last night we got some pretty good action in the No. 7 vs. No. 8 games, though I am not sure if we are allowed to call it the playoffs.

Atlanta got an upset down in Miami and the Lakers won thanks to a very significant comeback fourth-quarter comeback. We were right on both winners but L.A. came up short in covering with the win coming in OT. I even called the Hawks outright win, just saying.

Tonight we have No. 9 vs No. 10 in both conferences and admittedly it is not as exciting, though in these cases the loser is going home so the urgency should be greater.

Let's have a closer look at the two games.

Eastern Conference

Chicago Bulls @ Toronto Raptors
Line: Raptors -6
Total: 212

Toronto took the season series 2-1. The home team and covered in all three games and all three were unders. These teams have not seen each other since the end of February.

Toronto deserves to be favored at home. They are the better deeper team, but more importantly they match up really well with Chicago. The wing combo of OG Anunoby and Scottie Barnes can do a great job locking up the high scoring duo of DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine from the Bulls. Both of these teams have been frustrating all season long but the spot favors the Raptors greatly. Toronto is better on the sidelines and better at home.

Score Prediction: Toronto 110, Chicago 101

Western Conference

Oklahoma City Thunder @ New Orleans Pelicans
Line: Pelicans -5.5
Total: 227

New Orleans won three of four during the season against the Thunder but OKC took the most recent game, for whatever that is worth. We had three unders and an over in the season series.

I do not like the vibe around the Pelicans right now. They need to focus on winning with the players they do have, not hear about all of this Zion Williamson stuff. I also like the Thunder on the road, where they have shown they can play well (20-11-2 ATS) and for the fact that top scorer Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a force, the best player on either team. He can be enough to keep them in the game throughout.

Score Prediction: New Orleans 115, Oklahoma City 112
