NBA bets: Wednesday? Let's call it Wembysday

The NBA is officially back, baby! On opening night, the reigning champion Denver Nuggets won and covered against the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Phoenix Suns went on the road and upset the Golden State Warriors. The action kicks up a notch Wednesday night with 12 games around the Association, and we can't wait to spray the board.

NBA Wednesday plus-money propapalooza

Luke Doncic 4+ made threes (+190 FanDuel)

Let's kick off our prop party with Doncic to sink at least four three-pointers. The San Antonio Spurs ranked dead last in the NBA in three-point percentage allowed last season, and opposing teams will be forced to shoot a ton from the outside with 7-foot-4 alien Victor Wembanyama patrolling the paint. Doncic could chuck up double-digit threes in this matchup.

Scottie Barnes to score 20+ points (+285 DraftKings)

Barnes should be in line for a major third-year jump in 2023-24. The Florida State product impressed in the preseason with 18.5 points per game on 62.8 percent shooting and 50 percent from beyond the arc. He will be much more involved in the Toronto Raptors offense this season with Fred Van Vleet out of the picture.

Keegan Murray to score 15+ points (+155 DK)

Speaking of a player poised to make a jump this season, Murray should be able to start his sophomore campaign on a high note. The Utah Jazz were one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA last season, and Murray will get up a ton of shots in a game with the second-highest total on the board Wednesday night.

Victor Wembanyama to record 4+ blocks (+260 FD)

It will take some time for NBA teams to adjust to Wembanyama's defensive prowess. This is a 7-foot-4 weapon with an eight-foot wingspan built in a lap to block shots. Opposing players won't be able to grasp how much ground he can cover until it's too late. Wembanyama averaged 2.8 blocks per game in 20.9 minutes per game in the preseason, and he'll play closer to 25 minutes in his NBA debut.

In the news ...

Diamondbacks stun Phillies in Game 7 to reach World Series — The Cinderella run for the Arizona Diamondbacks continues. After going down 3-2 in the NLCS to a superior Philadelphia Phillies team, the D-backs rolled into Citizens Bank Park and won Games 6 and 7 as hefty underdogs to reach their first World Series since 2001. Arizona will face off against the Texas Rangers in the championship series. If you believe the Diamondbacks can finish the job, you can find them at +146 to win the World Series.

Nikola Jokic opens MVP campaign with a bang — If you thought Jokic and the Nuggets were going to take a step back in 2023-24, think again. The reigning NBA Finals MVP kicked off the season with a 29-point, 13-rebound, 11-assist triple-double against the Lakers to lead Denver to a 119-107 win on opening night. The Joker is a +430 favorite to win his third league MVP in four seasons.

Titans plan to use two QBs in Week 8 if Ryan Tannehill is ruled out — The Tennessee Titans are in a peculiar spot heading into their Week 8 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Tannehill is questionable to play due to an ankle injury he suffered in Week 6, and if he can't go, head coach Mike Vrabel plans to play both Malik Willis and Will Levis in the game. Tennessee is currently a 2.5-point underdog to Atlanta, but this line has a chance to go haywire throughout the week.
